Guided hiking Thursday
2426m impossible to get any higher
An exciting island tour through the five climate zones of La Palma with several small walks and a picnic. At the highest point, the Roque de los Muchachos, we enjoy the overwhelming views. But we also take a closer look at the bizarre telescope landscape when we marvel at the world's largest open mirror telescope MAGIC from up close. From here we drive down into the magic forest of La Zarza where we will feel like little dwarfs between giant ferns and subtropical vegetation. The natives already worshiped this magical place and left rock carvings in abundance here. At the end of the trip we admire the largest collection of dragon trees on the island. Very few have experienced a more varied trip so far.
This tour is also suitable for cruise ship passengers, as it is linked to the arrival and departure times of the ships. Several short and easy walks.
Small volcano route
On this tour we explore the youngest part of the island, in the very south near Fuencaliente. Across fresh lava fields and through the gardens of the award-winning Palmerian wine, we reach the 300,000 year old Roque Teneguía, a striking phonolite rock and historical cult site of the indigenous people. If the weather conditions permit we climb the top of the Teneguía volcano, which erupted in 1971. Here we can enjoy the view over wide lava tongues, lighthouses, colorful, shimmering salt panels and to the neighboring islands of El Hierro, La Gomera and Tenerife. Once at sea level, the hike ends with a walk through the traditional salt pans of Fuencaliente.
